How Inkformer works

Find the part that sounds like you.

Artists

Your profile is your portfolio, your calendar and your way of being found by people who want the work you actually like doing.

  1. 1

Fill the profile before anything else

Add your work to the portfolio, pick the styles you tattoo and set your city. Those three decide whether you appear when someone searches. A profile without them is invisible, no matter how good the work is.

  2. 2

Get found by style and city

People rarely search by name. They search for blackwork in Berlin, or fine line near them. The styles you tick are what put you in those results.

  3. 3

    Take bookings

Clients request a date from your profile and you confirm or decline. Both sides confirm when it is done, and only then can a review be left. Inkformer does not touch the money, that stays between you and the client.

  4. 4

    Guest spots and studios

Studios can invite you to their team, as a resident or for a guest spot with dates. You can also ask a studio yourself, from Settings, and they decide. Either way it shows on both pages once it is accepted.

If you also run your own studio

Keep them separate: you are one thing and your studio is another, with its own address, team and calendar. From the menu under your avatar, choose Open a studio and it is made for you, connected to you, on one login. You switch between the two in one click, no second password.

Studios

The studio page is the shop: where it is, who works there, what the space is like, and whether there is room for a guest.

  1. 1

    Set up the page

Address, photos of the space, how many guest spots you have and what equipment is available. Guest artists choose largely on this.

  2. 2

    Build the team

In Settings, search for an artist and invite them as a resident or a guest. They accept and appear on your page, with your studio appearing on theirs. Artists can also ask you first, and those requests wait for you in the same place.

  3. 3

    Offer guest spots

Set your capacity and mark that you are open to guests. Artists looking for a spot in your city will find you, and can approach you directly.

If you tattoo as well as run the place

Give yourself your own artist profile: your portfolio and reviews belong to you, not to the building. From the menu under your avatar, choose Open an artist profile. It is made on the same login, added to your own team, and you switch between the two whenever you like.

Clients & Enthusiasts

Free, always, and you do not have to be planning a tattoo to be here. Plenty of people follow the work for its own sake, and everything below works the same whether you are collecting ideas or booking next week.

  1. 1

Search by style, not by name

Pick the style you like and the city you are in. You can browse studios the same way, and see who is guesting there soon.

  2. 2

    Follow the work

Following an artist puts their new work in your feed, so you see it as it happens rather than remembering to check. This is most of what people do here, and it costs nothing.

  3. 3

Message and book, when you are ready

Write to an artist directly and request a date from their profile. They confirm it. No hurry: the rest of the site works whether or not you ever do.

  4. 4

    Leave a review

Once you have both confirmed the session happened, you can review it, with photos. Reviews only come from real, completed bookings, which is what makes them worth reading.

Where you appear, and in what order

Nothing here is hand picked. Every list is built the same way for everyone, and using the site is what moves you up it.

What somebody types comes first

Search reads names, handles, bios, styles and tags. Type a handle in full and that profile is the first result, whoever it belongs to and whatever they pay. Everything after it is ordered by how closely it matches.

Filters decide who is in the running

Style, city and distance narrow the list before any of it is ordered. Your city is not part of the text search, it is the separate location filter, so a profile with no location set disappears the moment somebody searches near a place.

Then plan, then activity

Among profiles that match equally well, and on the page before anyone has searched anything, Premium and Friends come first. Inside each group the order is how recently you were active, then how much work you have uploaded, then who joined most recently.

Being around is what counts

The order uses the same thing the badge on your card says: whichever came later, your last upload or your last visit. So a quiet month does not bury you, and the badge someone reads explains the order they are looking at. One exception: a profile with no work on it yet does not climb by visiting. Put something in the portfolio first.

You can reorder the results yourself

Most followed and Highest rated ignore plans and activity completely, and in Highest rated a profile with no reviews goes last rather than counting as a zero. Beyond that there is nothing to buy: Editor's Pick is a badge, not a boost, and the plans on the pricing page are the only thing that lifts a profile at all.

One person, two pages

Plenty of people are both an artist and a studio. On Inkformer those are two separate pages, because they are two separate things: a studio outlives whoever runs it, and your portfolio follows you wherever you work.

You keep one login

Open the second page from the menu under your avatar and it is created for you, already connected. No second email, no second password. Switching takes one click.

Already made two accounts?

They can be connected. On the same screen, choose that you already have the other account and sign in to it once. From then on they are linked and you switch between them like anyone else.

Each page has its own plan

Opening a page is free. Premium on one does not carry over to the other, so you only pay for the page you want it on.
